Thu-Sun, 7:30pm

ART on THE MART is a large-scale digital public art project, established in 2018 as a public-private partnership between The City of Chicago and Vornado Realty Trust, owner of THE MART. THE MART (Merchandise Mart) is a landmark 1930 building located at the confluence of the 3 branches of the Chicago River in the River North neighborhood. ART on THE MART utilizes the 2.5+ acre south facade as a platform for moving-images art works, accompanied by sound broadcast from permanent speakers on the Riverwalk. The curatorial program has featured top international artists, such as Nick Cave, Derrick Adams, Charles Atlas, Barbara Kruger and Diana Thater, as well as works produced by Chicago-based emerging and mid-career artists and in partnership with other cultural organizations. ART on THE MART is open 9 months per year, April - December, Thursdays-Sundays, with evening start times varying seasonally according to sunset times. It is best viewed and heard from Chicago's Riverwalk, between Wells St. and Franklin St. ART on THE MART is free and welcomes all Chicago residents and visitors.
