EarlyWork, Re/Match and Process/ Process are kicking off Chicago Exhibition Weekend (CXW) week with a special cocktail party and highly anticipated print release by Sofía Fernández Díaz–and you're on the guest list!
Fernandez Diaz’s aquatint print work emerged from a myriad of precise and layered drawings the artist created during her recent time in Oaxaca, Mexico. Rooted in research and intuitive observation, the print will serve as both botanical study and spiritual mapping, evoking cycles of growth, resilience, and transformation. Be among the first to see it, collect it, and celebrate with Chicago’s art insiders—this is one night you won’t want to miss.
Printed in collaboration with Chicago publishers Process/Process, a portion of all sales will benefit nonprofit Re/Match’s 2026 grants to Chicago artists.
Join us as we raise a glass to Re/Match's continued impact on Chicago's art ecosystem and the start of CXW week!
Sofía Fernández Díaz’s process is fueled by an intimate knowledge of ancient and modern processes, combining experimentation, intuition, and play to discover new and unexpected commonalities between unrelated materials. Her familiarity with naturally occurring patterns and formations allows her to recreate these systems using beeswax, fibers, and natural dyes. From Mexico City, she has engaged in exchanges with artisans across Mexico throughout the past decade. Fernández Diaz has exhibited and performed at Goldfinch, Chicago Art Department, EXPO Chicago, Museo de Arte Contemporaneo (Oaxaca, MX), and ACE (Buenos Aires, AR), among others. Fernández Diaz received an MFA in Fiber & Material Studies at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and was recently named a New City Magazine Breakthrough Artist, 2025.
Re/Match is a 501(c)(3) non-profit that provides financial support to visual artists living and making in Chicago to encourage the production of new work, support the development and sustainability of their arts practice, and celebrate the vibrancy and energy of the visual arts field in Chicago. Rooted in artist advocacy, Re/Match collaborates with artists who are pushing the boundaries of their visual mediums: whether by reimagining physical materialities, building space for exchange and engagement, and/or working collaboratively with fellow artists and creatives. To date, Re/Match has distributed $90,000 in unrestricted funds to a total of nine Chicago artists, who each received $10,000.
Process/Process invites artists to make new artworks that adapt the possibilities of printmaking. By moving the ideas and processes that drive an artist's practice into the realm of the printed edition, Process/Process enables artists to develop exploratory new works. All projects are close collaborations between the artist, Angee Lennard, printer, and Jessica Cochran, partner.
Process/Process places works into private and public collections. All editions are available for sale on our website, and viewings can be arranged by appointment in their Pilsen studio.
