In 2010 Blanc Gallery opened as a liberated space for Black creatives to make work in community. Blanc was founded to preserve and advance the community’s creative history as Bronzeville began to experience an economic renaissance. We have committed ourselves to showcasing and supporting Black artists—both emerging young voices and seasoned practitioners with deep community roots.

As an artist-led space, we prioritize curiosity over commerce, foregrounding collaboration and resource sharing. Since opening, Blanc has hosted dozens of visual arts exhibits, poetry readings, film screenings, fashion shows and musical performances for audiences from down the block and around the world.

It has been our goal to be a reflection to Chicago of the sublime variety and beauty of Black creation.
