Since 1993, the Riverside Arts Center (RAC) has been providing Riverside, its surrounding suburbs, and the city of Chicago with vital arts programming. We host exhibitions, artist talks, workshops, art classes, and special events. The RAC is located just twenty minutes west of Chicago, in the heart of historic Riverside, Illinois. The neighborhood is known for its architecture by several renown figures such as Frank Lloyd Wright and William Le Baron Jenney. It is set in one of the first planned communities designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, the Father of Landscape Architecture.
Exhibitions at the Riverside Arts Center are held in the Freeark Gallery, Sculpture Garden, FlexSpace, and at the Town Hall. We exhibit artists from emerging to established, with an effort to provide opportunities to those less recognized. Solo and group exhibitions are curated by our exhibitions committee of established artist curators and guest curators. We feature all forms of contemporary art including painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, installation, video, and performance. The intimate rooms of our exhibition spaces allow for a unique venue for art exhibitions, professionally displayed and managed with attention to each artist's vision.
During Chicago Exhibition Weekend, the Riverside Arts Center will be featuring photography by Carlos Javier Ortiz in the Freeark Gallery, an interactive sculpture by Erik Peterson in the Sculpture Garden, paintings by Renee Robbins in the FlexSpace, and multimedia work by Matthew Katz at the Town Hall.
