On Sunday, September 21st, Chicago Humanities presents a day of powerful conversations and cultural exploration in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, taking place across the neighborhoods of Pilsen and Little Village.
The program features inspiring discussions with legendary actor and art advocate Cheech Marin, acclaimed photographer Estevan Oriol, Teen Angel’s Magazine curator David De Baca, and celebrated chef and cultural storyteller Jesse Valenciana. Together, these voices celebrate the richness, resilience, and creativity of Latine communities.
The day also includes a guided tour of the National Museum of Mexican Art’s permanent exhibition and a public art walking tour through the neighborhood—offering opportunities to reflect on community, identity, and expression in public space.
Outside the museum, enjoy a free pop-up market in the parking lot featuring local artists, designers, and makers, alongside Shady Rest Vintage & Vinyl, a beloved Pilsen-based record shop, spinning throughout the day.
Join us for an immersive experience of art, music, food, and conversation that centers Latinx stories and champions diverse voices across Chicago.
